MBA voices support for FHA Commissioner nominee Frank Cassidy
Frank
Cassidy,
the
principal
deputy
assistant
secretary
for
the
U.S.
Department
of
Housing
and
Urban
Development
(HUD)
has
been
nominated
to
serve
as
the
commissioner
of
the
Federal
Housing
Administration
(FHA).
Cassidy
has
been
with
HUD
since
April
of
this
year.
Before
joining
the
department,
Cassidy
was
a
senior
managing
director
at
Walker
&
Dunlop,
a
commercial
real
estate
finance
and
advisory
services
firm.
He
also
previously
held
positions
at
Newmark
Knight
Frank,
Berkeley
Point
Capital
and
Oppenheimer
&
Co.
Cassidy,
based
in
Philadelphia,
was
a
2025
honoree
for
the
Philadelphia
Business
Journal’s
40
Under
40
award.
Cassidy
Bob
Broeksmit,
president
and
CEO
of
the
Mortgage
Bankers
Association
(MBA),
released
a
statement
of
support
for
Cassidy’s
nomination.

of
Frank
Cassidy

serve
as
Assistant
Secretary
of
Housing
and
FHA
Commissioner,”
Broeksmit
said.
“His
extensive
experience
in
real
estate
finance
at
Walker

Newmark,
and
Oppenheimer
&
Co.
Inc.
provides
him
with
compelling
insights
on
how
to
make
FHA’s
single-family
and
multifamily
programs
less
costly
and
more
innovative
and
competitive.

and

on
continuing
the
meaningful
reforms
that
boost
housing

make

he

The
FHA
has
been
without
a
full-time
commissioner
since
the
departure
of
Julia
Gordon,
who
served
during
the
Biden
administration
but
left
the
role
around
the
time
of
Donald
Trump’s
presidential
inauguration
in
January.
